A large hyperdense subcapsular collection is seen in the right kidney. Its attention values on non-contrast images are 55HU and didn’t change after IV contrast media administration.
Stranding is noted in perirenal fat, extending downward to the pelvis.
Case Discussion
Regarding the history of recent trauma, features on CT are compatible with right subcapsular perirenal hematoma.
On CT images, they are typically seen as crescentic hematoma peripherally encapsulating a portion of the kidney. The attenuation value depends on the age of the hemorrhage.
