Acute attack of right knee pain and limitation of movement

Patient Data

Age: 42 years old
Gender: Male

A subchondral fracture line is seen at the medial femoral condyle with surrounding marrow edema displaying bright PD FS signal.

Case Discussion

Subchondral insuffiency fracture of the knee is a reversible form of spontaneous osteonecrosis of the knee and affects individuals younger in age. Under conservative treatment the marrow signal abnormalities can return to normal.
