Dorsal tongue lesion for investigation.
Patient Data
Within the right anterior submandibular space, there is an 11 x 9 x 10 mm ( AP x ML x SI ) ill-defined nodular area of asymmetrical soft tissue which is of similar signal and enhancement characteristics to the more posteriorly placed right submandibular gland and medial sublingual glands.
Conclusion: Ill-defined elongated area of T2 signal abnormality and enhancement in the right dorsal anterior tongue measuring 14 mm in length. This appearance would be unusual for neoplasia, the lesion may be inflammatory or related to previous trauma. Right anterior submandibular space soft tissue lesion. Appearances are suggestive of a herniated right sublingual gland.
