Elbow pain. No trauma.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Female

The proximal radius demonstrates an aggressive, malignant appearing lesion with a sun-burst type of periosteal reaction.

Case Discussion

Sunburst appearance periosteal reaction in a pathologically proven case of osteosarcoma. The sunburst appearance occurs when the lesion grows too fast. It is frequently associated with osteosarcoma but can also occur with Ewing sarcoma or osteoblastic metastases.
