Superior vena cava stent and tracheostomy on chest x-ray

Case contributed by Dr Henry Knipe

Patient Data

Age: 50
Gender: Male

Tracheostomy in situ. Left internal jugular chest port with tip in the mid-SVC. SVC stent noted.

No focal consolidation. Elevated right hemidiaphragm. Gas filled loops under the left hemidiaphragm.

Case Discussion

SVC stent placed secondary to a stricture, itself presumably secondary to long-term central venous access.
