Supernumerary kidney

Presentation

Urinary tract infection.

Patient Data

Age: 45 years
Gender: Female

The right kidney appears normal in size and shape with normal location.

On the left, there are two well-formed fused kidneys with normal shape. They have approximatively the same size with separated pelvicalyceal systems and ureters. Normal renal excretion.

Case Discussion

CT-IVU features of a supernumerary kidney. It is considered a rare entity, less than 100 cases were reported in the literature. In this case, both native and accessory kidneys have approximatively the same size with no reduced excretion.

The main differential diagnosis of the supernumerary kidney is a duplex kidney.
