Supracerebellar arachnoid cyst

Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Complains of headache.

Patient Data

Age: 16 years
Gender: Female

A T2 hyperintense, T1 and FLAIR hypointense lesion following CSF signal noted in the supracerebellar region.

Mild mass effect is seen as evidenced by mild compression upon the vermis as well as the pineal gland.

No significant compression of the tectum is noted. No hydrocephalus seen. No restriction is noted on DW images. No blooming noted in SWAN images.

Case Discussion

Large supracerebellar arachnoid cyst can cause reversible herniation of the cerebellar tonsils.
