Synchronous pineal and suprasellar germinoma

Case contributed by Dr Hidayatullah Hamidi

Headache and poor vision.

Patient Data

Age: 8 years
Gender: Female

Non-enhanced images show hyperdense lesions (due to hyper hypercellularity) in the pineal and suprasellar regions. Both the lesions show intense homogenous post contrast enhancement. Large area of cystic formation is seen in the suprasellar region.

Case Discussion

In this age group, this pattern of lesion suggests a germ cell tumor. About 5% to 10% of all germ cell tumors are found simultaneously in both the pineal and suprasellar region.

Unfortunately, no histology is available to confirm the diagnosis.
