Presentation
Handball player with pain at the elbow joint and inability to extend completely the elbow.
Patient Data
Few small hypointense structures, suggestive of intra-articular loose bodies, are noted in the elbow joint. Moderate joint effusion is noted.
Focal subcortical cystic changes and marrow edema are noted at the level of the olecranon process of the ulna.
Case Discussion
This is a case of a young male presenting with elbow pain and limited range of motion of the elbow joint in absence of significant degenerative changes suggesting primary synovial chondromatosis.
Primary synovial chondromatosis is usually idiopathic. Secondary synovial chondromatosis is usually related to degenerative changes.
