Presentation
History of previous surgery for a spinal cord lesion/tumor. No details of type of tumor (histology) were present.
Patient Data
There is an extensive syrinx extending from the C2/3 level all the way down to T11/12 level.
No masses (intramedullary or dural or extradural)
C5- C7 laminectomies, consistent with previous history of surgery.
Case Discussion
Syringomyelia can occur after trauma or surgery, post infection ( e.g. arachnoiditis), can be congenital (like in Chiari malformation) and can also be associated with some tumors like hemangioblastomas.
In this case its either secondary to surgery or the trauma thereof, or could be related to the tumor that he had.
