Alignment is normal. No fracture identified. Incidental small ossicle between the basion and the tip of the C2 odontoid process in the midline. A V-shaped defect in the anterior foramen magnum (best seen in the coronal images) is noted.
Case Discussion
This incidental ossicle represents a small 'third condyle', a normal anatomic variant.
A V-shaped defect in the anterior foramen magnum (best seen in the coronal images) represents the origin of this developmental variant.
