A thoracoplasty has been performed with the upper left ribs have been resected with collapse of the upper part of the left side of the thoracic cage with underlying atelectasis of the upper zone.

Thoracoplasty was a fairly frequently performed operation for the treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis.
