Case contributed by A.Prof Frank Gaillard

Midline neck swelling; slightly painful; Moves with deglutition.

Patient Data

Age: 5-15
Gender: Male

CT of the neck of a child with a midline neck mass demonstrates a cystic well circumscribed mass between the strap muscles and immediately below the hyoid bone. There is no convincing solid component.

On Ultrasound the mass appears of intermediate echogenicity.

Case Discussion

Findings are consistent with a thyroglossal duct cyst.
