Case Discussion

The Schatzker classification system for tibial plateau fractures is widely used by orthopedic surgeons to assess the initial injury, plan management, and predict prognosis.

A Schatzker type I fracture is a wedge-shaped pure cleavage fracture of the lateral tibial plateau (less than 4 mm of depression or displacement).

These fractures represent up to a quarter of all tibial plateau fractures and are more frequent in elderly patients due to osteopenia.
