Tibial stress fracture

Presentation

Army recruit with pain in left leg after vigorous training. One leg hop test was positive.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
x-ray

Oblique cortical break involving medial aspect of midshaft of the tibia with subtle continuous periosteal reaction, haziness of marrow cavity and anterior cortical thickening. Findings are consistent with a tibial stress fracture (fatigue fracture).
