Case Discussion
The cortical buckling sometimes seen in incomplete fractures of childhood are usually referred to as torus fractures. These fractures derive their name from the convex upper member of the base of a Greek column, as depicted here.
A torus is also the term given to the geometric shape of a doughnut, which is a cylinder wrapped into a circle (similar to what is seen at the base of a Greek column). This should not be confused with Taurus, which is the astrological term for a bull.
