Presentation
Follow up after radical cystectomy and orthotopic neobladder formation for bladder cancer.
Patient Data
Heterogenous soft tissue mass involving the left renal pelvis and encircling the proximal 1/2 segment of the left ureter. There is infiltration of the perirenal fat and a lower calyceal stone. The renal vein is not involved. Both ureters are seen implanted into new bladder.
Right renal cyst is noted. Multiple hypodense hepatic focal lesions, most of which are metastatic.
Case Discussion
The patient had transitional carcinoma of the urinary bladder for which he underwent radical cystectomy and neobladder operation.
Newly developed recurrent tumor of the left renal pelvis and ureter was discovered on follow up CT.
Transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder may be synchronous or metasynchronus with the upper renal tracts.
