Presentation
A middle-aged male presented with chronic dull abdominal pain, change in bowel habit. He has a known history of pulmonary tuberculosis and has completed treatment.
Patient Data
There is focal circumferential asymmetric thickening of the terminal ileum measuring approximately 9 cm. There is mild perilesional fat stranding present. Multiple enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes are seen in the right iliac fossa. There is mild free fluid is seen in the peritoneum predominantly in the right iliac fossa. Incidentally noted multiple small cholelithiases. NG tube and Foley's catheter are seen in situ.
In a known case of tuberculosis, imaging features are suggestive of ileocecal tuberculosis.
Case Discussion
GIT is one of the common site of tuberculosis. Ileocecal region is the most common site of gastrointestinal tuberculosis. Differential diagnosis includes Crohn's disease and carcinoma cecum. Endoscopy was done and biopsy was taken which confirmed the presence of tuberculosis.
