Presentation

Abdominal pain.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male

Mild rectal and pancolonic thickening which is relatively featureless with loss of normal haustra, along with prominent mesocolonic vessels. Gallbladder absent. No other significant findings. 

Case Discussion

Typical imaging features of ulcerative colitis with inflammation starting at the rectum and involving the remainder of the colon, though to a lesser degree in the ascending colon. The loss of normal features in the descending colon (lead pipe colon) is a characteristic finding.
