US-guided breast core-biopsy

ultrasound

Given the lesion size and palpability, it was a straightforward biopsy. The technique used in our service is summarized as: skin antisepsis, local block with 5-10 mL of 1% lidocaine, a small incision with a scalpel 11 (enough to overcome resistance and allow the entry of the needle-core biopsy), guided introduction of the needle core biopsy with the removal of three or four fragments. The needles commonly employed are of 14 gauge.

Case Discussion

This case was pathologically proven to be an invasive breast ductal carcinoma.

The photos were obtained with patient permission and under the hospital privacy rules.
