Presentation

Colicky abdominal pain and nausea and intermittent vomiting for five days.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Male
ct

A calculus with size up to 1.5 mm in right side ureter distal segment adjacent to UVJ and hydroureteronephrosis upstream and another calculus with size up to 3 mm in left kidney lower pole are seen. Further tiny non-obstructing left upper pole stone. The bladder is relatively distended and there is fullness in the left kidney pyelocaliceal system and ureter. There is also an umbilical fat hernia and left side inguinal fat hernia.

Case Discussion

The case illustrates the discrepancy between the size of the ureterolithiasis and the severity of hydroureteronephrosis upstream. Recurrent obstructive ureterolithiasis can lead to renal dysfunction.
