Uterine adhesion band

Case contributed by Dr Maulik S Patel

Dilatation and evacuation done for missed abortion one year back. Not able to conceive after that.

Patient Data

Age: 25
Gender: Female

A hypoechoic band ( 2 mm ) is seen in mid line in endometrial canal, which appears to dissect or bifurcate the endometrial cavity, in the fundal region.

Case Discussion

Ultrasound features are characteristic of uterine synechiae or adhesion band. This is frequently associated with prior interventions like dilatation and curettage.

Hysteroscopy was done and band was removed. Diagnostic Laparoscopy was also done, which was unremarkable.

Patient conceived after 3 mths.
