Micturating cystourethrogram findings:
- on filling of bladder with contrast passive reflux was noted
- on micturating film active reflux was noted
- bilateral ureters appear dilated and tortuous
- bilateral pelvicalyceal systems appear grossly dilated with loss of papillary impressions
Case Discussion
This is a case of bilateral grade 5 vesicoureteric reflux.
It is a common cause of UTIs and fever in newborns and children.
Associated conditions are pyelonephritis and reflux nephropathy (if left untreated).
