Intermittent upper abdominal pain and vomiting.

Gender: Male

Barium meal

Fluoroscopy

Dilatation of the proximal duodenum with marked compression in the midline of the 3rd part of the duodenum.

The superior mesenteric artery was confirmed on CT angiography to be compressing the duodenum

Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome (also known as Wilkie syndrome) is an acquired vascular compression disorder in which acute angulation of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) results in compression of the third part of the duodenum leading to obstruction of proximal bowel.
