Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease

Discussion:

Unilateral or bilateral avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head in children is more common in males. The initial symptoms are usually a limping gait, pain in the hips, thighs and knees, and decreased hip mobility. During the illness, a discrepancy can be observed in leg length and muscle atrophy in the area surrounding the hip.
