Keratocystic odontic tumor

Discussion:

Keratocystic odontic tumors (Odontogenic keratocysts) usually present in younger patients (2nd-3rd decades) and may be present in either the body or ramus of the mandible

They are one form of lucent mandibular lesion.   Typically expansile, cortical thinning and breech is common.  As the name implies the cyst is associated with un-erupted dentition.

Surgery is usually indicated with a hemi-mandiblectomy with fibula graft/tray a common approach.

Stereolithographic modelling is undertaken in many centers prior to surgery.
