Where do you need to look for injuries?
Bony injuries can be seen at the humeral head, or the glenoid fossa. In this case, there is a fracture at the greater tuberosity.
What specific fractures are described with shoulder dislocations?
Fractures at the postero-superior humeral head (in the area of the greater tuberosity) are termed Hill-Sachs lesions. These are associated with anterio-inferior fractures of the glenoid fossa (Bankart lesions). These are usually seen in anterior dislocations. When the positions are reversed in posterior dislocations, they are Reverse Hill-Sachs and Reverse Bankart.
Reduction of the glenohumeral joint is noted.
There is a fracture of the greater tuberosity. No bony Bankart lesion.
