Secondary degenerative change - hip joint

Discussion:

Degenerative changes in young patients are concerning for an underlying etiology. It may be post-traumatic, inflammatory or related to avascular necrosis. MRI can differentiate avascular necrosis from other causes.

Post-operatively the diagnosis was confirmed, however, due to the extensive nature of degenerative changes a total hip replacement was undertaken.
