What are the 2 types of gastric volvulus?
There are 2 main types of gastric volvulus: the organoaxial (most common) and the mesenteroaxial. The organoaxial volvulus consists of rotation of the organ around its longitudinal axis, whereas the mesenteroaxial volvulus consists of rotation of the organ about its mesenteric (short) axis. A third type, called mixed volvulus, consists of a combination of organoaxial and mesenteroaxial volvulus.
