Non-seminomatous germ cell tumor (gross pathology)

Discussion:

This is an example of a non-seminomatous germ cell tumor (NSGCT) and contained areas of embryonal carcinoma and immature teratoma.

In contrast to the solid, homogenous pale appearance of seminoma, mixed germ cell tumors will more often have a mixed solid and cystic appearance and areas of congestion and hemorrhage (the latter sometimes relating to areas of choriocarcinoma).
