Is there an abnormality on the CT?
There is narrowing of the L2/3 disc space and focal lucency of the superior endplate of the L3 vertebral body.
Is further imaging required?
Yes, an MRI is required to assess the extent of disease, whether there is any associated spinal collection and whether there is pre- or para-vertebral extension.
There is very subtle hypoattenuation in the superior endplate of L3, but no significant loss of height. Incidental calyceal dilatation in the upper pole of the left kidney (filled with contrast during the excretory phase of the study).
