The patient was convinced she had bumped her breast and that the lesion was related to trauma of the breast. This was a common perception among patients 30 years and more ago. Is this true ? Is there evidence to suggest trauma is related to breast tumours ? If not, where does this perception come from ?
Show Answer
There is no evidence linking breast carcinoma and trauma. The reason that the perception is there is likely that a minor bump draws the patients attention to a mass that was there, but was simply not noticed.
