Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that originate from the muscle tissue of the uterus. 

Submucosal uterine fibroids grow towards the endometrial surface of the uterus. They are the least common type of fibroids but generally cause disturbing symptoms. The most common symptom in submucosal fibroids is increased bleeding during menstruation.
