Lipomyelocele

Discussion:

This case illustrates a lipomyelocele which is a common closed spinal dysraphism and, as in this case, is usually associated with a tethered low lying cord.

The main differentiating feature between a lipomyelocele and lipomyelomeningocele is the position of the placode–lipoma interface, inside or outside the spinal canal, respectively.
