This patient has features of trapped lung on chest x-ray and CT (not shown), which occurs post pleural tap:

• basal pneumothorax
• right basal opacity (reflecting thickened pleura and atelectasis as demonstrated on CT)

She has a history of ovarian cancer with pleural metastases and recurrent pleural effusions. The pneumothorax is a result pleural inflammation causing bronchopleural fistulas and unexpanded lung rather than being procedure related. These pneumothoraces will often not resolve with placement of an ICC.
