Orbital dermoid - superficial

Discussion:

Orbital dermoid cysts are congenital lesions representing closed sacs lined by an ectodermal epithelium. They divided into deep (within the orbit) or as in this case superficial (adjacent to the orbital rim).

Eighty percent occur in the upper outer quadrant or the lacrimal fossa - an external angular dermoid.

These lesions are usually extraconal, masses with smooth margins, with cystic and/or solid components often with a large amount of intralesional fat.
