Fetal hydrocephalus

Discussion:

Severe fetal ventriculomegaly which has developed in later pregnancy (note history of a normal second trimester ultrasound).  The cause is not evident on this study, however differentials include ventricular obstruction (e.g. from intraventricular hemorrhage), TORCH infection, aqueduct stenosis.

Clearly, prognosis in this case is dismal.

An urgent tertiary referral was made; subsequent re-scan showed fetal demise.
