These signs are in keeping with raised intracranial pressure, indicative of a significant process within the brain. If patients have these signs they need urgent imaging to investigate this.
During and after pregnancy, a number of neurological conditions can become more common. Due to changes in the body's defence systems, multiple sclerosis relapses are increased in the post-partum period, which can present with visual changes. Due to a slightly pro-coagulant state, venous thrombosis can occur in this time, and present with headaches and papillloedema.
