Image interpretation practice exams

Playlist contributed by Andrew Murphy

This playlist contains 90 cases to test your knowledge before a preliminary image interpretation exam.
It roughly reflects the old 2013 Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia ist of significant abnormalities they expect radiographers to understand.

There are normal exams scattered throughout, and some clinical details are omitted.

I have broken the exam into two 45 case blocks (as it is a lot of cases)

How to approach this exam

  1. click on the play button (if you're at the playlist page)

  2. read the clinical details (sometimes they are omitted) then click the continue button this will take you to the radiograph

  3. view your case if there are multiple images you will see them on the left panel ***do not press on findings tab***

  4. write down your findings and click on the next button this will take you to your next case you will see new clinical details

  5. after the exam
    • Go to this link bit.ly/image-interp-answers (I'd have this open in a separate tab)
      • go through the cases and click on the findings button (top left) to see the answer

Review tips

  • ask yourself
    • did you appreciate all relevant findings (including soft tissue signs)?
    • did you recognise the normal images?
    • would your written comment succinctly convey the urgent clinical findings?
  • identify your weak areas and review
  • don't sit this exam immediately after; however, it can be useful to sit it a few days or even weeks later

Further learning material

If improving your image interpretation skills is something you are interested in, I have created some learning pathways to cater for a wide range of audiences from trainee radiologists to radiographers

Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with the ASMIRT PIE exam, this is just a resource I have made based on the MRPBA list that the PIE exam is based on :)
