Benign enlargement of subarachnoid spaces (BESS) in infancy

Discussion:

BESS is a condition characterized by the CT findings of dilatation of the subarachnoid spaces, normal ventricular size, and prominence of the basilar cisterns.

Most cases were found in children referred for the evaluation of abnormally increasing head circumference measurements.

The condition resolves spontaneously by the age of 2 years.
