MRI study of the proximal interphalangeal joint of index finger reveals interstitial edema and mild thickening at ulnar and radial collateral interphalangeal ligaments ( sagittal retinacular ligaments) suggesting sprain injury, a little more prominent at radial aspect. Some soft tissue edema is appreciated at the volar plate.
The central and lateral bands of extensor indicis are normal. Bone anchors are seen at base of middle phalanx of fifth digit.
