There is an anechoic/hypoechoic area (8 x 4 x 3 mm) with internal mobile echoes in the thumb pulp. There is no internal vascularity. However, perifocal hypervascularity is present. The adjacent cortex of the distal phalanx is normal. The distal end of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon is normal. There is no DIP joint effusion.
