Presentation

Clinical features of right carpal tunnel syndrome for the last few months.

Patient Data

Age: 30 years
Gender: Female

The median nerve maximum cross-sectional area in the distal forearm is 7.8 mm2. The nerve's maximum cross-sectional area proximal to the carpal tunnel is 11.8 mm2. The maximum cross-sectional area distal to the carpal tunnel is 13.2 mm2. No mass lesion involving the median nerve.

A thin-walled anechoic lesion in the carpal tunnel lying deep to the thumb and index finger flexor tendons. Its distal bulbous part is outside the distal end of the tunnel. Its neck extends along the carpal tunnel floor and appears to enter the intercarpal/ carpometacaral joint. The lesion measures 13 (length) x 9 (width) x 3.5 (anteroposterior) mm.

Normal flexor tendons without tenosynovitis. No other wrist abnormality.
