Presentation
Known case of left breast carcinoma. For metastatic work-up.
Patient Data
The left kidney is ectopically located on the right side and fused with the inferior pole of the right kidney, giving an L-shape appearance. The left-sided renal fossa is empty. Both kidneys appear malrotated, and their pelvis points anteriorly.
No urolithiasis is noted.
Ill-defined lytic lesions with sclerotic margins are observed involving L3 and L1 vertebral bodies, resulting in decreased height of the L1 vertebral body. These findings are most likely suggestive of bony metastatic deposits.
Case Discussion
The patient, a known case of left breast carcinoma, underwent a CT scan for metastatic workup, revealing an incidental finding of right-sided crossed fused renal ectopia, type-E, as described above.
