Presentation
Progressive left peri-mandibular facial swelling. Mild tenderness to tooth 37. Longstanding dental decay.
Patient Data
Large apical lucencies to the roots of 37, the distal root of 36, and the proximal root of 38. Trace areas of surrounding sclerosis are also present.
Severe dental decay noted. Nose piercing in place.

Case Discussion
A case of dental abscesses detected on OPG, a useful and quick imaging modality when working up facial swelling with dental pain. These cases are sometimes misdiagnosed as salivary gland infections, particularly when individuals present with peri-mandibular swelling.
