A juxta-colonic rounded area of increased pericolic fat density is noted at the ante-mesenteric border of the descending colon, with thickened adjacent peritoneal reflection. No bowel wall thickening or obstruction.
Diffuse fatty infiltration of the liver.
Case Discussion
This appearance is consistent with epiploic appendagitis. No diverticula, no colonic wall thickening and the relatively young age of the patient make diverticulitis unlikely. It is self-limiting condition and does not require surgical or medical intervention.
