A non-contrast abdominopelvic CT scan demonstrates an ovoid area of fat stranding with a hyperdense peripheral halo in the left lower quadrant adjacent to the distal descending colon.
No diverticula are seen in the colon.
No free fluid or free gas.

Features are consistent with epiploic appendagitis.
Epiploic appendagitis is a rare self-limiting ischaemic/inflammatory process that affects the appendices epiploicae of the colon.
