Flexor tendon injury

Presentation

Cut injury of little finger by electric scissors. Inability to flex the little finger.

Patient Data

Age: 25 years
Gender: Male
mri

Complete interruption of the fibres of the flexor digitorum profundus of the little finger at the level of the proximal phalanx (Zone II) with proximal retraction and fluid filled gap distally. Diagnosis was complete tear of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon of the right little finger with tendon retraction.

The flexor digitorum superfcialis is markedly thinned and attenuated, reprsenting partial or near complete tear.

Case Discussion

This is an interesting case as you can note a full tear of the flexor digitorum profundus and only a partial tear of the flexor digitorum superfcialis tendon.
