Case Discussion

In the inspiratory axial plane, one can see some discrete centrolobular ground-glass nodular opacities in the upper lobes. In the expiratory phase, there are extensive areas of air trapping.

The imaging and clinical aspects are typical of respiratory bronchiolitis, most often secondary to smoking habits, including indirect smoking.

Hut lung usually manifests as respiratory bronchiolitis on CT images. It is secondary to the inhalation of gases produced by the combustion of biomass in enclosed homes.

In Brazil, especially in the colder southern states, the frequent use of wood stoves to cook and heat the house is sometimes a cause for Hut Lung.
