Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Multiple nodular T2/ FLAIR hyperintensities are seen in subcortical white matter of right parietal lobe, abutting overlying cortex. No obvious evidence of calcification / haemorrhage, diffusion restriction or enhancement on post contrast study is seen. No obvious mass effect is seen.

Case Discussion

Findings suggest likelihood of multinodular and vacuolating neuronal tumour in right parietal lobe.

Dysembryoplastic neuroepithelial tumour (DNET) is a close differential. However, DNETs are 'bubbly' appearing lesions, primarily cortical based and cause expansion of the cortex which is not seen in this case.
